This course will provide a solid grounding in the principles of assisting in surgery
and allow opportunities to develop manual skills. The 1 ¾ days will comprise lectures,
manual skills training using organic tissue, a cadaver anatomy session and live
animal surgery simulation in association with junior doctors attending the Open
Stapling Workshop. Participants are required to have at least 18 months experience
in operating theatre work with a component of at least 12 months in abdominal or
gynaecological surgery.
