ThisThis two day Advanced Cardiac Life Support course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting.

Intended audience

The course is based on the Americal Heart Association Course, and is adapted to the current New Zealand standards. It is suitable for all health professionals with a need for advanced skills, competence and confidence in emergency situations and who may be required to respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

Participants should be competent in IV cannulation. A separate course can be attended for participants that require training in IV Cannulation.

Preparation

In order for participants to gain the most benefit, and to achieve the assessment standards of the course, it is essential to complete the pre-course reading and the pre-course multiple choice and ECG recognition tests prior to the course.
