This one day
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is designed as an update and revalidation programme for those who already hold a valid qualification in Advanced Resuscitation or
ACLS and is best suited to health professionals
working in an acute environment
(eg, ED, ICU, CCU) or those who have completed an ACLS full course within the past
two years.

Preparation
In order for participants to gain the most benefit, and to achieve the assessment
standards of the course, it is essential to complete the pre-course reading and the
pre-course multiple choice and ECG recognition tests prior to the
course.
Content
The recertification course commences with an update on any new Resuscitation Science
and then goes straight into summative and formative assessments as listed below.
Each skill station starts with a demonstration of the required standard by the instructor,
a short practice/tutorial period followed by assessment.
Assessment
The mastery style of assessment is the form of assessment predominantly utilised
during the course. Through using this style, specific targets are set and participants
are required to meet these during the programme. Participants may pass each target
on their first attempt, or require several efforts to reach the required standards.

GP ACLS : This is a course specially
developed for General Practitioners to recertify you for ACLS. The course is up to to NZRC Level 5 (8 CME credits). Certification is presently valid for one year. For fellowship of RNZCGP requiring Level 7 please see our
eight hour ACLS recertification Course (12 CME credits)
It
includes a session on IV Cannulation.
