Advanced Clinical Skills Centre
The Advanced Clinical Skills Centre is a collaboration between The University of
Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, the Rawhiti Trust and MercyAscot
Hospital.
It provides a world class environment for skills research and training, and is located
on Mountain Road, Epsom, Auckland, at the MercyAscot Hospital site.
The Centre was officially opened by the Chancellor of The University of Auckland,
Hugh Fletcher on Friday 10 June 2005.
The Advanced Clinical Skills Centre offers courses at all levels in clinical procedures,
resuscitation and emergency life support, crises management in anaesthesia, open
and laparoscopic surgery, general surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general practice,
theatre nursing and other disciplines.
Specific training courses can be developed for your needs. Space can be booked for
your training of health professionals.
Courses are subject to cancellation if the minimum number of registrants is not
met and the course becomes unviable to proceed with.
A minimum of two weeks notice is required to avoid cancellation penalties.

Surgical Skills

Department of Surgery
Surgical Skills is part of the Department of Surgery,
Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences
at The University of Auckland.
Courses are provided for a broad range of health professionals using best and safe
practice techniques. Optimal experience is gained by the use of animate and inanimate
simulation in the Surgical Lab and elsewhere.

Anaesthesia Simulation

Department of Anaesthesiology
The Department of Anaesthesiology provides a
number of short courses to develop health practitioners' skills in resuscitation
and acute care.
The short courses provided by the department can be delivered on site or at The
University. Simulation–based courses designed for specialist and trainee anaesthetists
and assistants to the anaesthetist are regularly provided.
High-fidelity simulation-based training in anaesthesia is available for anaesthetists,
anaesthetic technicians and nurses and OR/PACU nurses.
