Financial support is crucial to the longevity of scientific research. Funds are required to pay for equipment and other resources that may be required to successfully pursue an intended outcome.

Different types of funding are offered under different circumstances and criteria. Strict and competitive application processes are usually involved in obtaining such sources of funding.
