Objectives
- To create and use a model by analysing existing literature data.
- To deliver an oral presentation on a pharmacometric analysis.
Introduction
As the science of pharmacometrics has evolved new methods and ideas can be applied
to old problems. The clinical pharmacology literature contains many examples of
studies which present all the data required for a model based pharmacometric analysis
but frequently the data
is presented without formal modelling. You are encouraged
to explore the literature for a clinical pharmacology study that you can model using
both simulation and model building/parameter estimation.
Assignment
- Find a clinical pharmacology study which provides sufficiently detailed results
so that you can analyse the data using a model. You may find observations in a table
or may need to read them
from a graph.
- Use the modelling tools you have applied in earlier assignments to simulate the
data in the clinical pharmacology study.
- Build a model to describe the data and estimate its parameters.
- Discuss your results in relation to the literature report.
Your written assignment should form the basis of an
oral presentation (approx 10 minutes)
which you will be asked to give to the Pharmacometrics class.
