Functional Foods
Purpose and Benefits
The field of Functional Foods continues to grow in importance in the food industry.
Customers want 'healthier' foods: the challenge is to enhance the bioactive, antioxidant
or mood-enhancing potential of a food without reducing its appeal, or making it
too expensive.
For this year's conference, we are focusing on functional foods for children – and
the special challenges they present. This doesn't mean we have ignored other aspects
of the area. Foods for busy (harrassed?) parents and 'mood foods' will be covered.
Once again we will include the latest scientific developments and go on to cover
the practical business of creating marketable, functional food products.
Remember, this annual symposium is a networking goldmine, whether you supply ingredients,
are engaged in new product development or research.
The Functional Foods Symposium is an initiative of the University of Auckland and
Plant and Food Research.
It will be held in the spectacular University of Auckland Business School, Owen
G Glenn Building which has excellent conference facilities – and easy access parking
on-site.
