Travel grants
Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences - Postgraduate Students Association
Applicants must be postgraduate students currently enrolled Full-time in a degree
in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences only. The applicants are usually in
their second (thesis) year of postgraduate study who are undergoing, or have undergone
at least a minimum of one year laboratory research. There is a requirement for the
applicants to be presenting a paper or poster in a conference about his/her research,
be attending a training course on research methodology relevant to their thesis
project, or be visiting a laboratory or clinic for a specified purpose relevant to
their thesis project.
NB: In the case of conference attendence an abstract of the
paper or poster should accompany the application. Priority will be given to students
who have not previously received a travel grant from the Association.
Summer studentships
Any undergraduate student can undertake a research project over the summer under the supervision of
a senior clinical, biomedical or public health researcher. The award is a $4,000
tax free stipend paid $3,000 at the start of the project and $1,000 on the
handing in of your project. These usually run from November
to February.
