Entry requirements for international
students
International applicants may compete for a limited number of places in the MBChB programme.
International applicants may apply under the same categories
as domestic applicants.
General information
on the application criteria
International graduate applicants must have completed a relevant degree (eg, health
sciences, biomedical science, etc) from a recognised university
in New Zealand or overseas. UMAT is not required.
International graduate applicants will be assessed on the basis of their academic
achievements and an interview.
Interviews normally take place in October.
Telephone interviews are conducted for overseas based applicants.
Closing date for international graduate applicants is 31 August
each year.
Scholarships
The University of Auckland is unable to actively offer
international students financial assistance by way of scholarships and the like.
However, students may be eligible to apply for support from established
scholarships themselves.
Scholarships for international students
IELTS
Applicants whose first language is not English must sit IELTS and obtain an overall
score of 7.5 with no band less than 7 to be eligible for entry into 2nd year MBChB.
However, IELTS is not required if applicants have completed a degree from a New
Zealand university or The University of Auckland's first year Bachelor of Health Science or Bachelor
of Science (Biomedical
Science).
