Entry to the Bachelor
of Nursing programme is limited.
International students are eligible
to apply. For more information, contact the International Office.
New Zealand citizens and permanent residents may apply under one of the following
three application categories:
1. School-leavers
School-leavers are selected on the basis of academic merit. Students will be ranked
on their 80 best credits at NCEA level 3 or higher over a maximum of five subjects.
A
minimum of 16 credits in one of the subjects listed in Table A, and 16 credits
in one of the subjects listed in Table B at NCEA level 3 are required. Other qualifications
such as the Cambridge International Examination may also be accepted.

2. Alternative admissions
Mature students without academic qualifications may apply under alternative admission
regulations. Applicants should be able to provide evidence of success in academic
study, for example having successfully completed a qualification from a tertiary
provider or one year at university level or a university degree. The faculty includes
interviews as part of the selection process for alternative admission candidates,
allowing students to be assessed on the basis of their suitability for nursing and
their aptitude for study. These interviews will take place in December each year.

3. Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme (MAPAS)
This category is for students of Māori or Pacific descent and is described in the
general admissions section. Those applying may be school leavers, alternative admissions
students, or may have completed the year-long Certificate in Health Sciences offered
by The University of Auckland.
