The support offered by
the Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme (MAPAS) is divided into three categories:
MAPAS admission support
You are eligible for MAPAS if you have verified indigenous New Zealand Māori or
Pacific whakapapa/ancestry and are a citizen or permanent resident of New
Zealand. MAPAS eligibility and ancestry verification is approved upon receipt of
a completed MH04 form.
General MAPAS Interviews for applicants who successfully apply under MAPAS for
CertHSc, BHSc, BNurs (ie, provide verified MAPAS eligibility and formal
application to the programme of study) may be invited to attend a general MAPAS
interview. MAPAS interview places are limited; priority will be given to those
who meet the ancestry requirements for MAPAS along with the appropriate academic
or life experience as required by FMHS.
MAPAS also provides entry for indigenous Māori and Pacific students into MBChB
and BPharm. A MAPAS Admissions Board reviews all applications and will determine
whether an applicant is offered a MAPAS Medical or Pharmacy interview. This is
based on an applicant’s academic record.
