Guidelines for FRDF applications, additional to The University of Auckland
FRDF application guidelines, for new staff FRDF applications.
Eligibility
New staff are defined as those staff who are PBRF eligible and were appointed
to a permanent University position within the last two years.
(Note:
Researchers on temporary contracts are not eligible for the new staff FRDF).
Timing
of applications
Applications to the new staff FRDF will be considered by the Faculty Board of Research
at its meetings every two months. The closing date for applications is the last
working day of the month preceding the BOR meeting, ie, March, May, July and October.
Value
of applications
The Board of Research will consider requests for up to $30,000 from the new staff
FRDF.
Number of applications
Only one new
staff FRDF Award will be made to any individual staff member. Thereafter a staff
member should apply to the FRDF annual funding round.
Process
In addition to the above guidelines specific
to the faculty’s New Staff Research Development Fund, applications to this fund
must also meet the Guidelines for the University FRDF and faculty.
Forms and guidelines
Applications are made electronically,
through InfoEd, through
the usual FRDF application process
.
Since the monies to be allocated are derived from PBRF revenues, it
is a requirement that applicants to the new staff FRDF explain clearly how the project
will advance their research career and their ongoing career development (4. Research
Career Development, page 3 of Application Form). Applications must contain a supporting
statement from the Head of School confirming their time of appointment and eligibility. (See 6. Faculty Specific Information,
page 6 of Application Form).
The faculty BOR will consider applications and supporting material provided by the
Head of School when making its recommendation to the Dean.
