Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Psychiatry

The Department of Psychological Medicine currently offers two specialisations: Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Forensic Psychiatry. Please see the relevant subject headings for information on these specialisations.

The department also contributes to the theoretical training component of the Auckland Regional Psychiatry Training Programme for doctors. Doctors in this training may wish to take The University of Auckland Department of Psychological Medicine postgraduate courses towards a medical science qualification. These psychiatry courses are designed to be relevant to psychiatry trainees in their study for the examinations for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. For medical graduates, the Master of Medical Science also serves as a pathway to a PhD in psychiatry and a university academic research career in this field.

Further information on the psychiatry training programme can be found at: www.psychtraining.org
