Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology aims to improve the reproductive health of all women and the welfare of their babies, through undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. The department is committed to evidence based and research led teaching.

The department offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology, which is aimed at improving the standard of obstetric and gynaecological care provided by general practitioners working in the community. Diploma candidates undergo a programme of practical training and formal education. The diploma consists of seven University courses, four of which are available through Distance learning.

One of these courses is also offered through web-based teaching. The distance learning courses are aimed at all healthcare professionals who provide care for women and their babies.

The department also offers postgraduate science courses in the area of reproductive science and the teaching is focused on two courses entitled Reproductive Science (MEDSCI 730) and Advanced Reproductive Biology (MEDSCI 731).

Postgraduate training in ultrasound is also available.
