Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Gerontology

With New Zealand's ageing population, general practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists are increasingly being confronted by the challenge of caring for older people in the community. Our courses are designed to enhance the skills of health professionals in this area and are comprehensive and client orientated.

The courses have a strong interdisciplinary focus and have been developed for all health professional disciplines. Registered nurses may take gerontology courses towards the advanced nursing specialisation of the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences.

Courses are offered in a distance learning format.
