Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Effective Practice

This specialisation is principally aimed at professionals in healthcare, health services, public health, health policy-making, planning and research positions and is of relevance to practitioners, researchers, planners and managers of healthcare and disability services. Students will gain an understanding of the science of epidemiology, the skills to critically appraise epidemiological studies relevant to healthcare, health services and public health problems and the ability to apply epidemiological evidence in healthcare decision-making, both at the level of the individual patient and patient populations.

Courses in this subject area are offered at the School of Population Health in a Flexible learning format.

These courses may be included in a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health in Effective Practice, or may be included as optional courses within the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health or Master of Public Health. Effective practice may also form the basis for a masters thesis or dissertation topic.
