Glossary of terms

Postgraduate "Postgraduate" refers to any programme of study that is at a higher level than an undergraduate programme.

Subject A subject is an area of learning which may be provided by a school or department.
For example - alcohol and drug studies, or nursing.
A to Z list of subjects

Programme A programme refers to the qualification you work towards. It consists of a set of courses that upon satisfactory completion leads to the award of a University certificate, diploma or degree. 
For example, if you are studying the subject alcohol and drug studies, you may wish to choose either a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences or a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences as your programme.

Course A  is the basic component of all academic programmes and are the specific topics that you study. Most courses are taught and assessed over one semester and may consist of lectures and tutorials, assignments, tests and an examination. Each course has its own alphanumeric code for identification.
For example, POPLHLTH 738 Biology of Addiction is a course you can study under the subject of alcohol and drug studies in the programme Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences.

Teaching mode The format used to teach the course. It may be weekly lectures, block, distance or flexible.

Schedule A list of courses permitted for a particular programme is called a schedule. The schedule can be found in the calendar regulations for each programme, which can be accessed through the relevant programme page.
