The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education (PGDipClinEd) is a multi-disciplinary postgraduate programme in clinical education,
aimed at providing the opportunity for clinical teachers to become excellent educators
and researchers in this field. The programmes are of particular relevance to doctors
involved in delivering medical undergraduate or specialist training programmes,
clinical nurse educators, and other health professionals with a role in education.
The programme offers a range of courses on topics including the core principles
of educational theory, curriculum planning, clinical teaching, simulation, e-learning,
evaluation and assessment and current trends in clinical education.
This programme is offered by the Centre for Medical and Health Sciences Education.
The courses are available in a Distance or flexible learning format.
In addition, there is a requirement
for attendance at a two-day workshop for some courses. The programmes aim to have
a high degree of relevance to workplace practice, and therefore course assignments
will be work-based.
Eligibility
Students
wishing to enrol in this programme need to have completed a relevant degree, or
completed the requirements for a health professional qualification and have at least
two years' relevant work experience, and be actively engaged in clinical teaching
or curriculum development in a health related discipline.

Important information
Places on this programme are limited. Priority may be given to
applications received on or before the closing date of 8 December.
Once you start this programme you will need to enrol continuously (each semester)
until the programme is finished. If you need to take a break you must apply for
a suspension.
This programme has a total enrolment clause of 160 points. This is the maximum number
of points you can enrol in (including failed or withdrawn courses) towards this
programme.
