The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health (PGCertPH) in Environmental Health is for health professionals who have, or wish
to have, a career in environmental health or do research in environmental health.
It will also suit environmental health officers and others who provide essential
services involving monitoring and management of environmental health hazards,
as well as
those in consulting companies, local government and industry who need some knowledge
about environmental health issues in their daily work.
This programme is offered by the School of Population Health, and is taught and
assessed entirely by course work. Some courses in this subject area are offered
in a flexible learning format.
Students wishing to complete the PGCertPH in Environmental Health are required
to enrol in, and complete, the following courses:

POPLHLTH 726 - Health Protection (15 Points)
- POPLHLTH 760 - Principles of Public Health (15 Points)
- and 15 points from
MAORIHTH 701- Foundations of Māori Health,
POPLHLTH 718
- Health and Public Policy,
POPLHLTH 733
- Health Promotion Theory and Models or
another course approved by the Head of the School of Population Health.
