A programme refers to a qualification. The term postgraduate is used to mean any
programme that is at a higher level than an undergraduate programme. You have to
be admitted to a programme before you can enrol in any courses.
Step 2: Identify a programme
The faculty offers a wide range of high quality postgraduate programmes, from
research based programmes to professional/applied programmes consisting
predominantly of taught courses. Your choice of programme will depend on:
- the subject you are interested in studying
- what you are trying to achieve
- how long you want to study
- your academic background and the entry requirements of programmes.
Scroll through the options listed below to find out the requirements and
characteristics of the different types of programmes and to get a list of
programmes offered in the faculty. You can also search for programmes by
Subject.

Your choice includes:
An advantage of many of our programmes is that they can also be used to form a
"building block" towards further study. This means that you have the opportunity
to progress from a postgraduate certificate to a postgraduate diploma to a
masterate and possibly to a doctorate - depending on your results and the
different pathways available.
Important points to consider
Once you start a programme you need to enrol continuously (each semester) until
the programme is finished, or apply for a suspension. If you only want to enrol
in one course then you should consider a
Certificate of Proficiency.
Each programme has a time limit within which it needs to be completed. This time
limit depends on the type of programme, eg, a postgraduate certificate must be
completed in four semesters (two years) if enrolment is part-time.
Each programme has a total enrolment clause, restricting the number of courses
you can enrol in towards that programme. All enrolled courses, including courses
that are failed, or withdrawn from, count towards this total. The specific
programme regulations will specify what this limit is.
