FMHS-PGSA Travel Grants
Advice to applicants - Round One Two - April 2012, Round Two - September 2012
Who may apply?
Applicants must be postgraduate students (Masters or PhD) enrolled in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
While all FMHS postgraduate students who are presenting a paper or poster on their research at a conference are invited to apply, priority will be given to students who:
- have not previously received a travel grant from the Association;
- are in the later stages of their degree; and
- who are not currently supported by a scholarship that also provides for conference costs.
Grants will be awarded retrospectively for conferences attended after the September or April deadline (whichever applies).
This travel grant is also applicable to those who wish to visit a laboratory, in which case a confirmation/invitation letter from the host lab is required. Value of travel grants
- For successful applicants attending overseas functions: up to $500
- For successful applicants attending functions within NZ and AUST up to $250

Eligible students will be involved in post-graduate study (Masters or PhD) at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, and attending a national or international conference later this year to present their work.
Priority will be given to students in the late stages of their degree and those with limited financial assistance.
Awards are for up to $250 for local conferences (NZ/Australia) and $500 for international conferences.

FMHS-PGSA Thesis Binding Grants
Applicants must be postgraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
You must provide the official GST
reciept from the binders! Eftpos printout/bank balance receipts will
not be accepted.
Successful applicants will receive $100 max (Masters Thesis) or $100 max (PhD Thesis) towards their thesis binding costs.
On attachment of your thesis binding receipt, payments may be made retrospectively but only within
3 months of receipt date.
Application procedure:
- Applications are now submitted through email only, note that hard copies will not be accepted.
- Clearly mention "FMHS Thesis Binding Grant Application - (First and last name)" in the subject line of email.
- Attach a scanned copy of the receipt from the binders.
- Supervisors may be contacted for verification.
- In all disputes, the decision of FMHS-PGSA is final.

New conditions (from Jan 2011):
- PhD Students: Now that your PReSS account funding is able to be used for thesis
binding the PhD Thesis Grants will only be awarded where:
- No PReSS account funding is available
- Overtime Doctoral students
- Special circumstances

Priority will be given to:
- Students who are not receiving financial support from their department for thesis binding;
- PhD students (meeting the above conditions), followed by Masters students (not Honours);
- Students who are not supported by a scholarship.
