Assessment

MBCHB 211: PCCS1

  • There is no formal practical assessment of clinical examination skills; however, the skills learnt will form the foundation for clinical skills teaching in MBChB3.
  • The material covered alongside the skills in MBChB2 is designed to complement and reinforce learning in the core PCCS1 course and other MBChB2 courses.
  • Communication skills is formally assessed with a simulated patient actor in semester 2.
  • The written examination questions for PCCS1 may include clinical skills elements.

MBCHB 312: PCCS2

  • The main practical assessment takes the form of an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
  • For each student this is a 30 minute practical observed exam, divided into three 10-minute stations, each with a different examiner.
  • You will be assessed on clinical examination and communication skills learnt across both years.
  • The written examination questions for PCCS2 will include clinical skills elements.
