ARN is a unique collaboration of researchers at The University of Auckland. It comprises
a group with national and international expertise and knowledge on a vast range
of issues around substance misuse and other addictive behaviours.
We focus on research related to primary healthcare, specialist care, prevention,
harm reduction, and brief interventions. Our research also includes biological and
population approaches. The group encompasses a spectrum of research skills including
clinical trials, population surveys, cost effectiveness valuations, educational
and training evaluations, service development and evaluation, and biomedical research.
ARN aims
- To provide quality research and dissemination of information in the field of addictions
to help inform New Zealand evidence-based policy and best practice in this field.
ARN goals
- To advance addictions research within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences
- To promote addictions research at The University of Auckland externally, both nationally
and internationally
- To facilitate and stimulate effective liaison between the Faculty and key policy
and treatment stakeholders, at the international, national and local community levels
- To develop and maintain community networks and relationships within the field of
addictions research
- To conduct relevant research in the addictions field to support best practice in
response to New Zealand community needs.
