ANZPRA New Investigator Award
In 2011 ANZPRA will award the ANZPRA New Investigators
Award to the best presentation (oral or poster) at the Annual Scientific Meeting
(7th -9th October)
by a member who is a postgraduate student or within two years of receiving their PhD.
To be eligible, new investigators must be financial members of ANZPRA in good standing for the 2011 year.
The award
will be given on the basis of the quality of presentations at the meeting
and will be judged by the ANZPRA Awards Committee which is comprised of representatives
of the ANZPRA Executive and a member of the SRB Awards Committee.
The award will be presented at the SRB/ANZPRA Conference
gala dinner.
Awards will not
be made if, in the judges' opinion, eligible presentations are not sufficiently
meritorious.
In order
to be considered for the ANZPRA New Investigators Award, new investigators
must tick the ANZPRA
box when submitting their abstract.
Prizes will not be awarded if, in the judges' opinion, eligible presentations are
not sufficiently meritorious.
Past awardees
- 2010: Chez Viall for "Trophoblast antiphospholipid antibody internalisation by a β2 glycoprotein I-anionic phospholipid-megalin complex."
- 2008: Ami Chiu for "Homeobox gene DLX3 regulates forskolin-induced trophoblast
differentiation".
- 2007: Gyathri Rajaraman for "Homeobox gene HLX1 is a mediator of HGF-stimulated
trophoblast migration."
- 2006: Joanna James for "The effects of oxygen concentration and gestational age
on extravillous trophoblast outgrowth from first trimester villous explants."
- 2005: Damien Hewitt for "Placental expression of secreted frizzled-related protein
(SFRP4) in the rat: association with beta-catenin localization and regulation by
glucocorticoids."
The IFPA The Gábor Than Award
in placentology: call for nominations
The next award will be presented in 2012, Hiroshima, Japan.
The award acknowledges outstanding contributions to the field of placentology in all its aspects, including the relationship with fetus and mother to early career
investigators.
Nominees should be within
seven years of receiving their doctoral or senior degree and be nominated by established senior scientists.
The awardee will be invited to give a lecture during a plenary session of the 2012
IFPA meeting and must be present to receive the award.
The lecture will be published in “Trophoblast Research”after peer-review.
The IFPA Gábor Than Award consists of US$2000 plus accommodation and registration for the next meeting and a bronze medal.
A call for nominations will be announced prior to the 2012 meeting.
